SCL: Trakkers rout Glen Waverley

TOORAK-Prahran is showing it will be a force to contend with in the Menzies Shield following the completion of round 2 in the Southern Cricket League competition.

The combined side scored a 104-run victory over Glen Waverley, following its win last round against Chadstone, meaning it has beaten both last season's grand finalists.

Premiers Cavaliers suffered their second consecutive defeat, failing by just five runs to achieve victory over Chadstone Harlequin.

Needing 35, their last pair at the wicket put on 30 before a run-out cost them the win.

Salesian Old Boys' first-innings victory by 117 runs over Notting Hill-Brandon Park owed much of its success to Eric Maillard, who had figures of 7-34.

St Pauls Glen Waverley, chasing Mt Waverley Uniting's 9-267, was at one stage 2-88 before losing its last eight wickets for just six to be all out for 94.

St Pauls was also close to losing outright, being 8-109 at stumps, with Uniting's Ben Dix taking 6-47 in St Pauls' second innings.

Chelsea went on a run feast in its 6th grade game against St Andrews Gardiner. Batting first, Chelsea hit up 2-324 in just 35 overs, with Simon Gill heading the scoring by amassing 157 not out. St Andrews subsequently could manage only 82, thus losing by a mammoth margin of 242 runs.

In the junior competitions, the Friday night section had most games abandoned because of rain.

Except for a handful of matches, the fixture will revert to a one-day game this week.
