WAVERLEY Benevolent Society president Patricia Green has been recognised for her work with a community award.
At the Sir John Monash Community Awards, Ms Green was given the gong for community leadership with the non-profit organisation. Norma Aitken and Tony Lee were named joint winners of the volunteer of the year award.
Ms Aitken co-ordinates the Waverley Patchworkers' gift quilt program. Mr Lee is a volunteer at the Appletree Preschool, Mount View Primary School, the Mount View Netball Club and the Monash Pony Club.
Year 12 student Samuel Schlegel from John Monash Science School won the young volunteer award for raising almost $2500 for new schools in Cambodia.
