MONASH University Central star defender Helen Barclay was part of a three-way tie in the Margaret Caldow award as most valuable player in the Victorian Netball League championship division.
Barclay joined with Yarra Valley Grammar Ariels' Caitlyn Strachan and Peninsula Waves import shooter Mwai Kumwenda to win the award although all three players were overseas and could not be present to receive it.
Kumwenda was in her native Malawi while Barclay and Strachan were both in Europe, with the latter two players sending video messages which were played at the Netball Victoria gala awards night last week.
Monash University Central's Jessica D'Antonio won the Division 1 MVP award ahead Boroondara Genesis' Tamara Luke and North East Blaze's Lauren Tesoriero.
In the 19 and under division City West Falcons' Vanessa Augustini won the MVP from UB Ballarat Pride's Emma Ryan and Geelong Cougars' Simone Hickman.
Kumwenda also claimed the Hot Shot award for scoring the most goals in the championship division.
