Vandals damage Cannons' home ground

VANDALS have attacked Jack Edwards Reserve, Oakleigh, in the past week.

The soccer ground, which is home to Oakleigh Cannons senior and junior sides, has had several windows smashed and fire damaged the coaches' boxes on the far side of the main ground.

The Cannons senior side made it into the Victorian Premier League grand final on Friday night, beating Dandenong Thunder in a penalty shootout, and will play at AAMI Park in the final on October 14.

Residents have told the Weekly incidents of vandalism at the ground have happened in the past week, possibly over a couple of nights.

It's not clear when the damage occurred or whether it happened at one time or on multiple occasions. Oakleigh Police were investigating the damage yesterday.
