IT takes a great team to win three premierships, but a great club wins them with different players.
Those were the words of Mount Waverley reserves coach Rob Tighello after his side claimed the Mountain Lions' third straight Southern Football League division 3 reserves premiership with a win over Moorabbin in the grand final on Saturday.
Tighello, who kicked two final term goals to seal the win, coached the Mountain Lions to their two most recent flags after current senior coach Andrew Taranto took the team to the 2010 flag.
Tighello praised his players for their performance on the big day.
He said their constant pressure and running from defence into attack allowed them to create a comfortable lead heading into the final term.
"While we didn't take our chances to put them away, our pressure and our ability to run the ball were excellent," he said.
"There is really only 7-8 players who have played in all three premierships. We've had to bring in new players each season and teach them how to play reserves footy.
"This is the sign of a great club with good people.
"Great sides win multiple premierships; great clubs win those premierships with different players."
Tighello said the Mountain Lions were proud of their achievements in a tough 2012 season.
Mountain Lions half-back Shane Constantino won the medal for best on ground.
The SFL had not supplied scores and best players from the division 3 reserves grand final when the Weekly went to print yesterday.
