Monash councillors have been lavishly spending ratepayer money to promote themselves. Council ‘newsletters’, produced and distributed at great expense, are full of stories about how happy we should be and pictures of smiling councillors congratulating themselves. They never mention cases of ratepayer dissatisfaction or the pending disaster around the council’s $12 million unfunded superannuation liability. Many councils tell their ratepayers the simple truth at far less cost. Why doesn’t Monash do the same?
