Big V: Waverley Falcons beat Suns

WAVERLEY Falcons women scored their second win of the Big V state championship season with a 73-70 decision over Sherbrooke Suns at Belgrave Heights Christian School on Saturday night.

Falcons star Melissa Moyle led the way with 27 points and eight rebounds while Julie Cowell dominated the glass with six points and 15 rebounds.

The Falcons women have fielded a very young side this season and will take much confidence from the result. The Falcons men also scored a win over Sherbooke in their clash at Waverley Stadium yesterday afternoon.

The final score was 72-66. Falcons forward Ivan Platenik had 21 points and 11 rebounds while Brad Kelleher added 13 points and Daniel Dillon 11 points, 14 rebounds and six assists.

The Falcons host Ringwood in a must-win game at 8.30pm this Saturday night at the Maroondah Indoor Sports Centre.
