Southern Health, which employees around 6000 nurses and midwives, marked the occasion - which coincided with International Nurses and Midwives Week (May 5-12) - with morning tea. Nurses and midwives will be acknowledged at Southern Health's annual scholarship and awards evening in Dandenong on Friday.
International Nurses Day marks the anniversary of Crimean War nurse Florence Nightingale's birthday, and is a chance to recognise the important work nurses do.
