Rowdy neighbours could face the prospect of a 72-hour 'noise ban' following the introduction of new state laws. Local police and councils now have stronger powers to stop noisy neighbours from making excessive noise. Last year, there were 770,000 excessive-noise reports made to local authorities statewide. Up until recently, noise bans lasted for only 12 hours.
