MT WAVERLEY Uniting's outright win over Mt Waverley Catholics has seen it rocket to the top of the ladder in Menzies Shield with the completion of the home-and-away series of games in the Southern Cricket League.
For the second time in the game, Uniting's bowling proved too much for the opposition. They fared even worse in their final occupation at the crease, being dismissed for a paltry 84 runs.
Uniting will now meet premier Cavaliers in the qualifying final and Toorak-Prahran faces off against Glen Waverley in the elimination final.
The Traks were on top of the ladder before losing to Cavaliers and will be keen to reverse their form in the finals series.
Glen Waverley Cougars have been the most successful club performance wise in the competition: all four of its senior teams qualifying for the finals.
In the junior section semi-finals are in progress in all sections except the under-11s, who continue with the normal playing fixture of one-day games.
