Thieves help lighten toolboxes in Monash

Monash tradesmen are being targeted by thieves who are breaking into their cars to steal tools. Officers at the Monash crime investigation unit said that between February 14 and 17 there was a series of tool thefts from cars across the City of Monash. Tradesmen in Wheelers Hill were the biggest targets with four thefts. There was also one theft in Chadstone and another in Glen Waverley. Leading Senior Constable Julie Rushton said tradesmen's cars were easily recognisable and thieves were mainly stealing expensive power tools. "It's hard to say where they're going to strike. It's very random and it's across the division." She called for tradesmen to be more vigilant and to lock or put their cars in the garage.
