Easing radiation therapy pressure

CANCER patients could have better access to radiation therapy with a new program to be led by Monash University.

The program will retrain radiation therapists and teach them how to perform traditional medical tasks on behalf of an oncologist in an effort to reduce pressure on the system.

Demand for radiation therapy is expected to soar in coming years due to increased demand from Australia's ageing population.
