Youngsters make racket over victory

WAVERLEY Tennis' young aces proved themselves as Victoria's champion juniors after a win in the inaugural Wayne Arthurs Cup at Kooyong.

The competition, held last month, involved 64 of Victoria's best players aged 10 and under as part of Tennis Victoria's talent development program.

Waverley's four-player squad Daniel Nickels, Stephanie Raux, Long Nguyen and Noelleda Ah San dropped only one set during their 30 singles and mixed doubles matches. The four, who honed their skills as part of Waverley Tennis' training squad at East Burwood Tennis Club, received their trophy from former Davis Cup player Wayne Arthurs.
