MT Waverley's Tyson Wyett says he always thinks ahead of the play. Wyett, 12, helped the Waverley Tennis Association defeat the Eastern Region to win the Associations and Regional Teams Challenge at the
Coca-Cola Complex in Bendigo.
Waverley sailed through its semi-final against Central Gippsland, while Eastern Region battled to beat the North Eastern Junior Tennis Association in its semi-final.
In the final, Waverley continued its domination of the tournament with an 8-64 to 4-41 victory.
Tennis Victoria's junior competitions and tournaments manager Jason Simmons said all the games were hard-fought with players showing great support to their teammates.
Following the win, Waverley nominated Wyett as Sport Star of the Week for his determination and team approach.
Wyett first picked up a racquet at the age of three when his local club began children's classes.
"I've always enjoyed it. It's my passion and it's what I want to do."
Wyett said he trained every day of the week to ensure his focus was on the game.
"I put all my effort into it. I like to take my time during the breaks, so the opponent loses their momentum. I like to think ahead of the play and never say die."
Wyett hopes to represent Australia and become the world No.1.
