Men's tennis a midweek autumn hit

THE Waverley Mid-Week Men's Tennis finals were held at Robinson Reserve in Eumemmerring.

In section one, the Centenary Park team of Merv Bolton, Paul Hodson, Bill Schulz and John Thompson added another pennant to their collection with a hard fought win over East Burwood: 3 sets and 43 games to 3 sets 38 games.

Bayview could not match the firepower of StChristophers in section two, going down 2-27 to 4-45.

Peter Clothier for StChristophers won his three sets but Denis Fitzsimon, Noel Burgess and Alan McHenry were not far behind. The section three grand final saw a good win by Glen Waverley over Doveton 4-43 to 2-31.

This represented the first premiership pennant for Glen Waverley's team of Karl Imberger, Ken Harland, Martin Pajmon and Jim Roffey.
