COSMIC Chief will represent Victoria at the National Sprint Championship in Adelaide on the back of a blistering win in the Victorian Final at Sandown
last Thursday night.
Starting well from box 3, Cosmic Chief proved too strong in the run to the line, defeating Iceman Raikkonen by 3�lengths in a personal best time of 29.61 seconds.
Kennel and litter mate Cosmic ic Planet finished a further half length away third.
The win took Cosmic Chief's impressive record to 15 wins from 39 starts and took the group 2 Warrnambool Classic winner's prizemoney to more than $132,000. It also gives Brown his first group 1 finalist.
Joining Cosmic Chief in Adelaide will be the Heather Collins-trained Arsonist. Despite finding early trouble and finishing fourth, Arsonist progressed to the final as the AGRA wild card, earned as the highest ranked non-winner to contest (but not win) their state final.
Victoria will be seeking its 13th championship and first since Darren McDonald's four-time group race winner Pure Octane won the 2005 title at Wentworth Park.
The grand final will be run at Angle Park in Adelaide on Saturday, August 28.
