SOUTHERN Suburbs wasn't able to sustain the pressure for the full 90-minutes, succumbing 3-0 to Brandon Park on Saturday.
The first half was arm-wrestle, with each side having chances to capitalise.
Southern president Alex Palmos said it was an enthralling match, with both sides having many chances to score.
"There were some great skills on display, it's unfortunate our boys couldn't maintain if for the whole game.''
After 70 minutes, neither side had managed to trouble the scorer. Southern had an early chance to score through a header that was intercepted by the goal keeper.
In the last 20 minutes, Brandon Park scored three goals through Antanik Mashoian, Stuart Kennedy and Robert Benedos.
Southern keeper Nick May had plenty to do on the back of some poor defending.
"The opposition played really well, on this occasion our boys couldn't match them,'' said Palmos.
Classy mid-fielder Panos Nickas was again a good contributor for Southern, despite the loss.
