Comets blaze a trail of glory

28 Jul, 2008 12:10 PM
THE Waverley Wanderers went down to old rivals the Casey Comets 2-1 on Saturday.

Coming into the match sitting last on the South East Division two ladder, the Wanderers were the heavy underdogs against a Casey side that has shown glimpses of brilliance during a tough year.

The first half was a tight and tough affair, with both teams scoring.

Live-wire Paul Presti was the goal scorer for the Comets, while Phillip Papadopoulos put the Wanderers on the board.

The Comets were eventually able to shake the Waverley tag in the second half and seal the win with a second goal through Chuol Bichok.

The win was Casey's seventh for the season and propels them within striking range of the top four, while Waverley remain on two wins for the season.
