MT Waverley finished the season as division 3 minor premiers on percentage ahead of South Yarra, which looms as the biggest threat to its premiership chances.

The Mountain Lions are perched at the top of the ladder at the end of the home and away season equal on 56 points with the Lions, separated by just 4.04 percentage points. The teams have dominated this year's competition and look certainties to fight out the grand final.

Mt Waverley had to produce its best football to shake off fifth-placed Doveton Eagles and win 14.19 (103) to 14. 9 (93).

Clayton secured fourth spot and a berth in the division one finals after easily accounting for cellar dwellers Highett 22.12 (144) to 5.2 (32), led by spearhead Szerszyn with five goals.

In division two, third-placed Oakleigh Districts suffered a demoralising 93-point pre-final hiding by second placed Heatherton, going down 18.14 (122) to 4.5 (29).
