21 Jul, 2008 11:08 AM
IN cold, blustery conditions, Mulgrave retained the Nosey Parker Memorial Trophy by comfortably defeating Ringwood by 35 points on Saturday.

Congratulations were in order for Tom Smcrek, who played his first senior game after he was promoted from the Colts, and to Glenn Hewitt, who played his 200th game with the reserves.

The Lions won 13.15 (93) to 8.10 (58) with David Waser kicking three goals, and Brad Fowler, Tim Hansford and Adam Booth booting two goals each.

Jacob Beard, Jarrod Fearon-Brown, Christopher Doyle and Alan Cleven were valuable contributors.

Mulgrave reserves defeated Ringwood 12.19 (91) to 5.9 (39), led by Glenn Hewitt with three goals.

Matt Richards, Shane Foster and Corey Hargreaves kicked two goals each.

Corey Hargreaves was best for the Lions.

He received solid support from Shaun Condon, Marcus Gehling, Ben Smith, Glenn Hewitt and Grant Mitchell.

The Colts made it a hat trick of wins, defeating Ringwood 21.18 (144) to 5.4 (34).

Israel Carter was unstoppable up forward,

booting six goals in a best on-ground performance.

Matt Nelson, Luke Parker, Anthony Willenberg, Martin De Luca and Joshua Kendal contributed to an outstanding, all-round team performance.

The Lions play Bayswater next week.

With five games remaining, they will be looking to consolidate a spot in the top two.

Mulgrave will host two weeks of the Eastern Football League junior finals, with A division under-12, under-14 and under-16 grades starting from Sunday.
