OAKLEIGH Amateurs lost their way in the wet, gloomy conditions, going down to Ajax by 36 points on Saturday.
With the game starting late due to Anzac Day ceremonies, the final quarter was played in rain and near darkness.
Oakleigh's inaccuracy proved costly and Ajax took full advantage to win 15.9 (98) to 8.14 (62). Shaun Briggs and Tim Edwards were prominent for Oakleigh while Chris Lamb booted two goals.
Oakleigh reserves fared better in front of goal and raced away from Ajax to win by 35 points, 13.8 (86) to 7.9 (51).
Trevor Bromley kicked three goals on his return from a trip to America while Simon Way and Will Manning were among the best for the Krushers.
The under-19s lost to Old Brighton by 86 points. Jess Pickett and Brad Hemphill were Oakleigh's best. The under-18s notched up another convincing victory with a 72-point win over UHS-VU. Dan Tunik led the way with six goals and ably supported by Tom Costigan and Peter Tsoucalas with four goals each.
The Club 18 also suffered from inaccuracy which cost them dearly in the end, losing by nine points to Caulfield Grammar.
