OAKLEIGH had its slim chance of making the finals snuffed out by Old Haileybury at Scammell Reserve on Saturday.
Despite a positive start by the home team, taking a six-point break into the first change, Old Haileybury booted 7.5 to 0.2 in the second term.
The Oaks showed some fight in the second half but the damage had been done, as they eventually succumbed by 43 points.
Lee Barrand led the goalkicking for Oakleigh with four while Dermot Cleary added three.
Steve Scott continued his strong form and Ben Hogan and Jim Hunt also played well.
In the early game, Oakleigh dominated the visitors, keeping them goalless in the first term and increasing the lead at each change, eventually earning a 68-point win and consolidating a spot in the finals. Dan Cistigan booted five, with Tom Nelson and Andy Syros adding two each.
The under-19s travelled to Como Park for a clash with Old Geelong and kept their run going with a 57-point win.
