OAKLEIGH unfurled its 2007 premiership flag and defeated local rivals Monash Blues on Saturday.

The Krushers celebrated the flag-raising with a bruising 26-point win in wet conditions, 14. 10 (94) to 10. 8 (68).

After leading by five points at quarter-time, Oakleigh kicked six goals to two, but the Blues fought back in the third and got within two points.

Oakleigh rallied and worked hard to open up a winning break, led by Tim Edwards and Daniel Wills with four goals each.

The reserves continued their winning run after keeping the Blues goalless for three quarters to win 13.13 (91) to 3.13 (31). Dion Lucas was dangerous up forward with four goals, while Pat DiSiervi and Peter Brown were among the best for the Krushers.

The under-19s won on forfeit, while in Club 18, Oakleigh took on St Mary's-Salesian and lost by 44 points.
