MT Waverley surged to fourth on the Southern Football League division 3 ladder on the back of a percentage-boosting 129-point thumping of Dandenong on Saturday.

The Mountain Lions roared into action with seven unanswered goals in the first term, and ripped the hapless Demons apart with a 14 goals to one first half.

The cellar dwellers were goalless in the third term while Mt Waverley continued its onslaught with 41 scoring shots to seven, to win, 22.19 (151) to 3.4 (22).

Jacob Mennen booted four goals and was among 12 goal kickers for the Mountain Lions, who are fourth on 28 points and top the percentages with 226.77.

Oakleigh District is in a logjam of teams vying for a top five spot in division 2 after losing to fifth-placed Caulfield.

The Oaks started promisingly and led by 12 points at quarter-time, but were outscored six goals to two in the second quarter to trail by 15 points at half-time.

Both sides lifted in what was an even second half and despite Oakleigh outscoring its opposition in the final term, it fell short by seven points, 12.7 (79) to 12.14 (86). Matt Featherston booted three goals for the Oaks, who are seventh on 20 points with Black Rock and Caulfield but behind on percentage.
