OAKLEIGH District made a statement against finals rival South Yarra in division two of the Southern Football League on Saturday with an easy 10.7(67) to 3.7(25) win.

A five-goal third term insured victory for the home side after keeping South Yarra to just two goals in the first half.

Second-placed Oakleigh District had a reliable avenue to goal with Arron McKenzie slotting home four, while Paul Fermanis and Josh Wright chipped in with two each.

While Dion Abel, Daniel Palling and Aidan Davey battled hard, South Yarra couldn't make a dent on the scoreboard and will need to beat third-placed Highett this weekend to secure a finals berth.

Oakleigh District will look to pick up momentum against Ashwood in the final home-and-away round this weekend.

Clayton went on a goal spree against hapless Black Rock, starting with a 10-goal opening quarter and never looking back in its 35.14(224) to 5.8 (38) win.

Vic Currie and Richard Szerszyn kicked six goals each, while Danny Gilmour, Corey Pearce and Justin Isaac each booted four.

Tim Lambert was Black Rock's best player and kicked three goals, but support from David Grose and Kelly Spratt wasn't enough to keep his side in the game.

In division three, Mount Waverley walloped Southern Dragons 16.13(109) to 6.7(43), despite scores being level at half-time.

Mount Waverley kicked 11 goals to none in the third quarter to set up the win.

Randolph Newman was Mount Waverley's best player, ably supported by Ross Laxton and Tom Roberts. The goals were shared between Jarrod Wilkin (three) and Matt Jeffries, Thomas Barnetby and Ian Taylor (two each).

Kyle Gois, Andrew Tran and John Do tried hard for the Dragons, who will prepare for their finals campaign against Moorabin this week.
