OAKLEIGH played host to Melbourne High School Old Boys at a windy Southern Reserve on Saturday.
The visitors kicked four goals into the wind before Oakleigh scored, and led by five goals at half-time.
A rejuvenated Oakleigh reduced the margin to 12 points at three-quarter time. Melbourne drew first blood in the last term but a spirited fightback by the Krushers put the game on a knife edge as Oakleigh closed within two points.
The visitors snagged another goal that sealed the match, 13.6 (84) to 9.13 (67)
Ash Kitts and Steve Doherty were among Oakleigh's best with Kitts and Lee Barrand kicking two goals each.
The reserves match saw the Krushers cruise to victory by 106 points against Melbourne High School Old Boys. Tim Edwards led the way for Oakleigh with four goals.
The under 19s were on the receiving end of a 113-point trashing by Old Mentonians. Tim Doherty, Jack Hind and Joel Costigan were among Oakleigh's best.
The Club 18 lost to Ormond by 34 points and are yet to open their account. Wayne Plaukovitz kicked two goals for the Oaks with Paul Malcolm and Dion Perry among the best.
