Top gun to chase 263

11 Jan, 2010 04:48 PM
RESUMING after the holiday break, the top three grades in the Southern Cricket League started a two-week fixture in near perfect batting conditions on Saturday.

In the Menzies Shield, the match of the day between Mount Waverley Uniting and Chadstone Harlequin is evenly balanced in what is a battle for second spot on the ladder.

Glen Waverley, which so far has won all its games this season in the league's premier grade, has a battle on its hands after being set 263 by Oakleigh District Footballers.

In third grade, DLogan (154) and MO'Connor (151) enabled StJohns Elsternwick to compile a mammoth 7-413 - the highest team total in the competition for the day - against StAndrews Gardiner.

All other grades in the league will resume this week, with one-day games in both the seniors and juniors sections.
