SCL: Menzies Shield final four settled

06 Feb, 2012 12:00 AM
WITH just two games to go before the finals, the composition of the top four has been confirmed after the completion of round nine in the Southern Cricket League Menzies Shield.

Reigning premier Cavaliers, Mt Waverley Uniting, Glen Waverley and Mt Waverley Catholics are the teams that will meet in the finals.

Three of the teams scored convincing wins this round. The Cavaliers trounced CUCC Kings, Glen Waverley's first innings score proved far too much for Glen Waverley Cougars, and Mt Waverley Uniting got a comfortable first innings victory over St James Malvern Valley.

The only side in the four to be beaten was Mt Waverley Catholics, who failed to get 55 runs to reach Oakleigh District Footballers' first innings total.

For the Footballers, Paul Gurr followed up his 95 in his team's first innings by taking 5-51.
