GLEN Waverley, undefeated so far this season, seems sure to consolidate its position at the top of the ladder in the Menzies Shield section, following the completion of the first day's play in round six of the competition.
Its opponents, fourth-placed Glen Waverley Cougars, chased leather all day as the Glen piled on 390 while losing only five wickets.
Glen Waverley can attribute much of its dominance to Leigh Murphy who, in an innings containing 14 sixes, returned a personal score of 205.
In other games, Mt Waverley Uniting has already taken first innings points against St James Malvern Valley and this should confirm its second-placed position on the ladder. The Cavaliers are showing some return to form and seem destined to register their third consecutive win for the season, this time at the expense of Toorak-Prahran.
