Hawks’ Sarna lines up against old club Dandenong

14 Oct, 2011 12:11 PM
HAWTHORN-Monash University has named recruit batsman Kumar Sarna to play Premier Cricket this weekend.

The former Victorian Bushrangers rookie, who will play his 50th Premier Cricket game, was rumoured to have left the club after signing with the Hawks during the off-season.

But Hawks president Petar Ivetic confirmed today that Sarna had returned to Melbourne this week after a family trip to India and was expected to play against his former club Dandenong at Shepley Oval in Dandenong tomorrow, and also for the Hawks against Fitzroy-Doncaster at Monash University on Sunday.

The Hawks will lose one of their leading recruits with fast bowler David Kingston taking a mining job outside of Melbourne which leaves him unavailable for senior selection after this weekend.

Ivetic said Kingston could still possibly make a few appearances for the Hawks' lower grade sides.

Dandenong captain Darren Dempsey is listed to play his 250th game, and Hawks scorer Craig Reece will record his 600th cricket match.
