IN a match that promised plenty, Hawthorn Monash University lost to Dandenong on Saturday. With the Hawks resuming at 5-85 with Doherty on 24 and Cookson on 21, the chase for 199 did not start well.

Cookson was struck in the pads with only two more runs added to the score.

Dart joined Doherty and battled hard to bring some momentum. Dart missed a delivery that had him trapped in front for 17 with the score at 7-110. Doherty's resistance for about three hours was cut short as he was adjudged caught behind for 32.

This left Matthew Hewat (28) to attempt a resistance of sorts, but with little to work with the innings was soon over for 143. Fairbanks (3-36) did the most damage. Dandenong had a second innings and reached 2-192 from 48 overs. Sarna made 71 before falling to Dale Tormey leg before.
