Depth pays off for Glen

18 Jan, 2010 02:52 PM
GLEN Waverley has maintained its undefeated record after a close win against Oakleigh District Footballers in round 8 of the Southern Cricket League Menzies Shield.

Chasing the Footballers' 8-263, the Glen showed its batting depth to get over the line in the dying stages of the game with none of its usual run-getters making any significant contributions to the scores.

In other games, Notting Hill-Brandon Park's win against Trinity and the Cavaliers' convincing victory against Glen Waverley Cougars kept both teams' finals hopes alive,

with three games left in the

season.

In a game which could have significance in the relegation stakes, Monash lost only three wickets in chasing down Toorak-Prahran's respectable score of 306, thanks mainly to Brendon Hislop, who remained undefeated on 185 not out when victory was achieved.
