Cheesy times for young Rats

25 Mar, 2008 08:24 AM
WAVERLEY 'Mighty Rats' juniors made history with their grand final win over Blackburn South.

The under-12s romped to a five-wicket win in the Box Hill Reporter grand final at East Burwood Reserve - it was just the club's second junior premiership and its first under-12 flag.

Waverley cruised to 5-114 in 35 overs in reply to Blackburn South's 9-112 in 44 overs.

President Gordon Longridge said coach Les Stolarik had had a profound influence on the team's attitude.

"Les believes in 'everything for the team' and that individuals should rejoice in the performance of their peers.

"This is an attitude that the club is attempting to foster from the juniors up while we are rebuilding our junior section."

Those interested in joining the club can contact Gordon Longridge on 97294728.
