MAKING women in their 40s feel fabulous is the theme of a webcast event run by a Clayton-based women's health foundation.
Dr Elizabeth Farrell, gynaecologist at the Jean Hailes Foundation for Women's Health, said the 40s could be a tough time for women.
"Some women are coming to the end of their reproductive years. Others are thinking that they'd better hurry up and have children.
"They can have ageing parents, be at the peak of their careers and have teenage children. It's a very busy time."
The event, titled Shaken not Stirred, will feature discussions about menopause, libido and health with Dr Farrell, physician and sex therapist Dr Rosie King and Health Matters radio presenter Dr John D'Arcy.
Dr Farrell said the presentations, which can be watched on home computers, would be held in a fun and friendly environment.
"It's important to be able to share information. There are so many people interested."
The webcast will cover issues such as the most suitable forms of contraception for women in their 40s; how to get a better night's sleep; why women can feel anxious, irritable, emotional and sensitive; and common causes of libido loss.
"It's most important to be fit and healthy and keep yourself as a priority," Dr Farrell said.
"The 40s is a time for women to focus on themselves and their needs and start putting into place their insurance policy on their health.
"Don't put yourself at the bottom of your own list."
