Tough call on mobile phones

30 Aug, 2010 12:00 AM
ST John Ambulance service has issued a challenge to the Monash community - switch off your mobile phone and help save lives.

Members will switch off their mobile phones tomorrow to raise money for the service.

A breakfast will be held at St John's Mt Waverley headquarters to launch the event.

The service will use the money raised to buy equipment.

Chief executive Stephen Horton said people often relied too much on their mobile phones. "It's not going to be easy but we're asking people to sacrifice their beloved mobile and make other arrangements for just one day to ensure we continue to have the best St John life-saving services."
