THE Monash Aquatic and Recreation Centre has been recognised for its progressive approach to include people of all abilities within sport and recreation.
Last week, MARC was announced winner of the Eastern Recreation & Leisure Services' 2008 inclusion achievement award.
Monash Mayor Paul Klisaris said the award was well deserved and congratulated staff and management on their inclusive approach.
"MARC is an excellent community facility and it's wonderful to see their efforts to engage people of all abilities rewarded.
"They provide a wide range of special equipment and activities for all to enjoy."
Support available for centre users with special needs includes a hoist and ramp for the warm-water exercise pool, portable electric hoist, slings and floating devices, aquatic wheelchairs, family change room and shower facilities.
