Taste of success

An edible garden at Mt Waverley's Sussex Heights Primary School will help pupils do their bit to fight global warming and childhood obesity. Last week, about 20 staff from Bunnings Warehouse in Notting Hill helped pupils renovate an unused driveway to build a kitchen garden for the school, which boasts seven large raised garden beds, an outdoor classroom area and a worm farm. Drought-tolerant plants were seeded in the garden beds to provide a green belt and reduce heat reflected off adjoining walls. Ten-year-old pupil Ana, pictured front, enjoyed building the garden with Bunnings activities organiser Val, back left, Eliza, 11, Bradley, 10, and complex manager Craig Joyner. Picture: Marco De Luca
