Superintendent Wayne Ashley last week revealed an anti-tank rifle from World War II that was surrendered to Oakleigh police during a weapons amnesty last month. The rifle was handed in by a man who said it belonged to his grandfather. It was one of 21 weapons handed into the station, along with 10 long-arm rifles and shotguns, three handguns, one imitation firearm, one edged weapon and six other weapons. The historic relic is destined for a museum, while the remaining weapons will be destroyed.
