Store's success lies with staff

24 Nov, 2008 09:31 AM
THE wisdom of a Wheelers Hill-born managing director of a multimillion-dollar business was in high demand at a Monash Business Awards breakfast last Wednesday.

Villa & Hut managing director Franz Madlener's speech outlining '10 tips for building a team and managing relationships with staff' was such a hit that audience members asked for transcripts.

Mr Madlener attributed the cafe-furniture store chain's success to its relationships.

"The most crucial of all these relationships is with our own people - our staff," he said.

One of Mr Madlener's tips included leaving a "now hiring" sign on permanent display because you never know who could apply.

Photometric Solutions International was announced as the next nominee for the Monash Business Awards 2008-09.

The next event is the MBA Breakfast on February 18, 2009 at the Mulgrave Country Club. The keynote speaker is author, columnist and social commentator Bernard Salt. Details: 95183587 or www.monashbusinessawards.asn.au
