 Stay safe, says mayor

Stay safe, says mayor

15 Dec, 2008 12:00 AM
MONASH Mayor Paul Klisaris has asked residents to stay safe during the festive season.

"My message is simple: to stay safe, to be happy, to look after each other and to support each other, particularly in the tough economic climate we're all going through," he said.

Cr Klisaris said he hoped people would spare a thought

for their neighbours this Christmas.

"One of the things that I was particularly saddened by during my [election] campaign trail was the loneliness people experience; the isolation the elderly experience.

"At Christmas, I would like us to spare a thought for those people and where we can, knock on their door and invite them into our homes and make them feel like part of the community."

He said the true meaning of Christmas was not about gifts, but loving each other and being with family and friends.

"Merry Christmas and a happy new year to all."
