FROM film musicals to group sing-a-longs, the Unforgettables are reliving the memories of music past for people of all ages.
The 14-strong member group has performed throughout Melbourne's east, including Glen Waverley.
They perform throughout the year, mainly at nursing homes. They also head up to Echuca-Moama each October for two performances.
Spokeswoman Patricia Solomon said the Unforgettables were a "loyal, supportive, friendly group who give freely of their time over the years". Some of the original members are still with the group, 15 years on.
The Unforgettables was the brainchild of aged-care worker Krishna Dutton.
Dutton encouraged some of her friends in musical theatre to devote one day each week to entertaining those in aged-care venues, some of whom had dementia or other medical conditions.
The group presents a range of songs with a nostalgic theme. Songs from film musicals, stage shows and Gilbert and Sullivan, as well as amusing skits, are just some of what is on The Unforgettables perform.
Music lovers will enjoy the group's take on classics such as Wish Me Luck As You Wave Me Goodbye and the group's signature tune Unforgettable.
Solomon said it was rewarding to see that many of the dementia residents recalled the songs they had performed.
A 15-year celebration showcase concert will be performed on November 15 at St Stephen's church hall, 4 Warruga Avenue, Bayswater.
