Protecting rights

26 Jan, 2009 01:19 PM
OAKLEIGH South resident John Lolas has been awarded a Public Service Medal for his outstanding work in developing consumer rights protection in Victoria and establishing a standard of excellence in conciliation services.

As one of the original staff members of the Consumer Rights Council in the early 1970s, Mr Lolas was a pioneer in consumer affairs services in Victoria. At a time when traders resisted the idea of consumer rights, Mr Lolas fought the battles that changed the face of the market.
