REDEVELOPMENT works at the Oakleigh pool are coming along swimmingly, Monash Council says.
Last week, Mayor Paul Klisaris said construction was well under way on pools at the $9.21million redevelopment of the Oakleigh Aquatic and Recreation Centre in Park Road.
"The upgraded centre is going to be fantastic for the whole community and it's beginning to really take shape now.
"There were minor delays due to wet weather and then due to the heat, but it's all progressing well."
The redevelopment includes a refurbished outdoor heated pool, dive pool, outdoor spa, new leisure pool, change rooms, canteen facilities and a water conservation system.
The demolition works associated with the old change rooms, filtration equipment and the learn to swim, toddler, 50-metre and dive pools have been completed.
Works are under way on renovation of the 50-metre, thermal and dive pools, balance tanks and change rooms.
The new entry promenade is also beginning to taking shape, Cr Klisaris said.
The redevelopment is expected to be finished in time for next summer.
