Peer guidance, networking to oil business wheels

28 Apr, 2008 12:25 PM
BOOKINGS are open for a Women in Business showcase event to be held next month.

Run by the City of Monash's economic development unit, it will showcase exhibits from small businesses to large corporations and provide networking opportunities for businesses to build contacts, exchange ideas and create alliances.

Monash's economic development officer, Priya Prasad, said mentoring and networking for women at such events "enables commercial sustainability and growth, and the opportunity to expand business-to-business relationships".

"There is no charge to attend and all are encouraged to come along and discover the diverse achievements of women in and around our business community."

A business breakfast will follow the main sessions.

Speakers Kathie Thomas, of A Claytons Secretary, and Melissa Khalinsky, of the Business Mums' Network, will provide insights on successfully running their own business as well as maintaining family life.

The forum will be at the Mulgrave Country Club on May 28.

Any business interested in exhibiting at the Women in Business forum or attending the business breakfast is encouraged to contact the economic development unit on 95183577 or priyap@monash.vic.gov.au. Numbers are limited so people are advised to book early.

The event is co-sponsored by the Monash Journal, Mulgrave Country Club and the Monash Business Awards.
