Tears of joy were shed as Clayton Oval was renamed Jack Meade Oval in honour of the Clayton Football Club's late life member last Saturday. More than 100 people, including about 30 members of the Meade family, attended the dedication luncheon. Jack's brother Frank Meade told the crowd he was proud the Meade name would live on through the renaming of oval. Playing against Tooronga Malvern, the seniors wore green and gold, the same colours that were worn by the 1950 premiership side. Club president Greg Collins, pictured above with Mayor Paul Klisaris (who turned out for the reserves) and the extended Meade family, said Jack embodied the sense of community in the club. Jack's son Phil, left, spoke at the luncheon about his father's legacy. Pictures: Mike Richards
