Organisers light way for festival

15 Dec, 2008 12:00 AM
PLANS for next year's inaugural Lantern Festival in Kingsway are charging "full speed ahead", say organisers.

After a meeting with the council this month, Win Sam Grocery owner Carmen Chau said the festival had a "full schedule" of line dancers, singers and performers.

Mt Waverley Chinese school Xin Jin Shan has agreed to perform traditional Chinese songs at the festival.

A Chinese art display featuring lanterns, donated by the Chinese Association of Victoria, will be put up near the Civic Centre for the festival.

There will also be a stall-decorating competition to encourage stallholders to get into the spirit of things.

Further details are due to be revealed at a media launch next month.

The festival is on Sunday, February 8.
