Murderer's home set alight

26 Nov, 2007 02:25 PM
THE home of a convicted murderer in Mulgrave was extensively damaged by a suspicious fire last Monday.

The Police Road home, formerly lived in by Nicola Spina, who murdered his mother and mother-in-law in 2001, had been vacant for several years.

Detective Senior Constable Matt De Boer, of Glen Waverley criminal investigation unit, said a number of young people were spotted leaving the Police Road home shortly before the fire was discovered at 10pm.

He said youths had entered the house on several occasions, causing minor damage and spraying graffiti.

Oakleigh, Brandon Park and Springvale fire crews brought the fire under control before the blaze spread to neighbouring buildings, but the top storey was extensively damaged.

Information to Detective Senior Constable De Boer on 95661568.
