GLEN Waverley Secondary College students are leading the charge for bright ideas for Victoria's future.
At Parliament House this week, six students from the school's `youth parliament' group will introduce a bill for better security on public transport at night.
Alexander Low, Jade Leigh, Daniel Christianz, Eric Chen, Simo Ivetic and Amita Ramaswamy will argue for an increase in CCTV and in police presence - including police presence on at least 25per cent of zone 2 services after 8pm and 15per cent of zone 1 services.
Daniel said better security at night would make public transport more accessible for commuters.
"We hope it will encourage a lesser reliance on cars.
"I have used public transport at night and it's not the greatest place to be. I've encountered drunken people on trains and it's not nice being in that situation at night.''
