 Meeting ignites rates fury

Meeting ignites rates fury

28 Aug, 2008 04:35 PM
MONASH residents vented their fury about rate increases at the council meeting in Mulgrave on Tuesday night.

A crowd of 100 residents, unhappy with the council's response to their concerns, burned their rate notices outside Mulgrave Community Centre in protest.

Rates for 2008-09 have gone up by an average of 6 per cent, but more than 5000 property owners face rises of more than 30 per cent because of property revaluation.

THE full story will be published in the Journal on Monday September 1.
