Mayor calls for green roadmap

30 Aug, 2010 01:00 AM
MONASH Council is calling for ideas on an "environmental sustainability road map" to reduce the community's impact on the planet.

Mayor Charlotte Baines said Monash residents would have a chance to have their say on the plan next month.

"Already the council has taken a strong stance on environmentally friendly practices, but we know there is more that we can do.

"We want to hear what residents think are the big issues when it comes to our environment."

The council's green initiatives have included installing rainwater tanks at council reserves, introducing new grasses on sports fields and mulching council gardens to reduce moisture loss.
